Step into the historic landmark of the Smith Tower Observatory & Bar, where each cocktail is a carefully crafted masterpiece, and every detail tells a story. As a Bartender in our iconic establishment, you will channel the spirit of the prohibition era, delighting guests with curated libations and personalized experiences. From meticulously measured ingredients to engaging conversations, you’ll ensure that every visit to our bar is a journey into the heart of vintage charm and unforgettable fun. You will also work as a server when required.
Job Responsibilities
- Work as a hybrid bartender and server, taking orders accurately and efficiently and ensuring all special requests and dietary restrictions are accommodated with care.
- Prepare all alcoholic and non‑alcoholic beverages in accordance with recipe standards.
- Ensure attractive, consistent presentation of all cocktails and non‑alcoholic beverages.
- Maintain a clean and organized bar area, consistently washing glassware and barware as needed.
- Deliver a warm and welcoming experience to every guest, providing attentive and exceptional service throughout their visit.
- Demonstrate in‑depth knowledge of menu items, including curated cocktails, and confidently make recommendations to enhance the guest experience.
- Work as a banquet/catering bartender for private events, promotional/consumer events, and meetings as instructed by the F&B Manager and Banquet Captain.
- Adhere to all food safety and health practices.
- Adhere to all Washington State Liquor Laws, including ID checks.
- Proactively address guest concerns or feedback, exceeding expectations and resolving issues swiftly.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a high‑volume restaurant or hospitality environment preferred.
- Hybrid role of bartender and server.
- Fluent reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for hospitality.
- Strong guest service skills with a solutions‑oriented mindset.
- Ability to perform essential functions on a computerized point‑of‑sale system.
- Ability to stand for more than three (3) hours at a time.
- Ability to de‑escalate, be organized, and handle busy operations.
- Dependable work attendance and flexibility for assigned schedules, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift 25+ pounds.
- Basic math skills.
