Lead Line Cook
Hourly Rate Starting $22 - $25
Exceptional candidates with significant experience may be considered above the posted range.
Position Summary
The Lead Line Cook will join a talented team of cooks, prep cooks and stewards working collaboratively to produce at a high level. The successful candidate will train into all stations in our kitchen including our wood fire oven, pasta, grill and sauté. As the Lead Line Cook you will work closely with the sous chef, executive chef, culinary director and front of house management to effectively and safely operate our kitchen and execute our dynamic menu. If working with the best local products, a house made pasta program and a wood fired menu of pizza and vegetables which changes daily, this job is for you.
The Lead Line Cook at Prairie Fire is a full-time hands-on position which will also be responsible to close the kitchen 1-2 shifts per week.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards.
Assist in the meal preparation for both regular service and catering events.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations.
Utilize proper knife skills for food preparation, ensuring precision and safety.
Adhere to food safety guidelines to maintain a safe cooking environment.
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service and quality control.
Help with inventory management, including ordering supplies as needed.
Participate in training new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques and safety protocols.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Line Cook or in a similar role within the culinary field.
Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
Experience in fine dining or catering environments is preferred but not required.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent knife skills and familiarity with various cooking techniques.
A passion for cooking and a desire to learn new skills.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including shifts of 8–10 hours.
Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to regularly bend, stoop, reach, climb stairs, and perform repetitive motions.
Ability to work safely in a fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, cold, and kitchen equipment.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Competitive pay based on experience
Paid Sick Time in accordance with the MA Paid Sick Leave Law
Paid Time Off: Hourly non-tipped employees can accrue and use up to 40 hours PTO in a benefit year.
