Role Overview:

The Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) is instrumental in ensuring pet parents and their pets have positive, engaging experiences while upholding our mission, vision, and values. This position also involves maintaining store cleanliness, pet safety standards, and the direct care of our in-store pets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engage with pet parents and address their inquiries both in-store and through various communication channels.
• Prepare online orders for in-store pick-up, ensuring a smooth customer experience.
• Care for our store-owned pets, including feeding, monitoring health, and maintaining clean habitats.
• Uphold cleanliness standards throughout the store.
• Assist with pricing updates and promotional merchandising.
• Ensure products are displayed appropriately and sales floors are organized.
• Recommend and promote products and services.
• Administer medications to store pets as directed by our veterinarian.
• Engage in promotional events, including adoption weekends and community outreach.
• Foster a safe environment for customers, pets, and fellow associates.
• Respond swiftly to sick or injured pets in store, coordinating care as necessary.
• Work collaboratively in various store departments as needed.
• Participate in creating a culture of belonging and recognition.

Desired Qualifications:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to stay calm and effective under pressure.

Physical Requirements:

Associates are required to stand, walk, and occasionally climb ladders. They must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly, with occasional lifting of more than 100 pounds. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Expect moderate noise levels and potential exposure to live animals and their environments.
