Industrial Electrician

Austin Industrial, Inc. is seeking an experienced Industrial Electrician to be based in Port Wentworth, Georgia. The role involves conducting general maintenance inspections, performing routine electrical maintenance, responding to faults and wiring issues, and installing major electrical equipment. Successful candidates will possess strong problem‑solving skills, extensive experience with industrial electrical systems, and clear communication abilities.

Specific Duties And Responsibilities

  • Perform all job functions safely and promptly report unsafe behaviors to the shift supervisor.
  • Comply with all company and customer safety policies and procedures.
  • Make decisions based on technical documents.
  • Advise management on potential hazards related to equipment operation.
  • Complete electrical tasks promptly for all types and sizes of electrical and conduit installations/terminations.
  • Organize materials and tools to maintain clean and neat work areas.
  • Mentor and provide training to helpers and mechanics.
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical components of industrial equipment, such as motors, motor starters, push‑button stations, circuit breakers, and disconnects.
  • Troubleshoot motor and control systems and perform quality testing and inspections.
  • Install various types of raceway and cable tray systems.
  • Install electrical panels, circuit breakers, transformers, lights, and other components.
  • Install and maintain lighting, fire detection, communication, clock, motor control, machine tool, conveying, process, and distributive control systems.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and necessary adjustments or repairs, ensuring compliance with codes.
  • Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
  • Install and terminate single and multi‑conductor power, control, instrumentation, and computer data cables.
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and test equipment including ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Install conduit (pipes or tubing) inside and outside designated partitions, walls, or concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
  • Construct and fabricate parts using hand tools and specifications.
  • Install metal or plastic boxes on walls to house electrical switches or outlets.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects.
  • Maintain business records, files, prepare reports, and order supplies and equipment.
  • Adhere to all quality and safety codes.
  • Adhere to strict lock‑out procedures to ensure power source isolation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 3 years of recent industrial electrical experience.
  • Technical degree or certifications in electrical work preferred.
  • Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, hand tools, and industrial equipment.
  • Experience with relays, switches, motors, timers, electric devices, circuit boards, and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Awareness of national, state, and local electrical codes and regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Motivated self‑starter who can manage projects and make decisions.
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and other technical documents.
  • Willingness to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and crawling.
  • Must pass a drug screen and background check.
  • No per diem and no relocation funding.
