This is a full-time, on‑site role located in San Diego, CA for a CNC Set‑up Technician. The CNC Set‑up Technician will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machinery, troubleshooting mechanical issues, performing instrument calibration, and conducting preventive maintenance. This role also requires ensuring the accuracy of machine output and maintaining equipment performance according to specifications. Collaboration with engineers and other technicians to support production goals and quality standards will also be essential.

Set up CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment according to setup sheets, blueprints, and work instructions.

Load and verify CNC programs, tool offsets, and work offsets.

Perform first‑article inspections and make machine adjustments as needed to meet specifications.

Select, assemble, preset, and measure cutting tools.

Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and quality issues.

Verify material type, condition, and dimensions prior to production.

Collaborate with Quality personnel to ensure compliance with customer and company requirements.

Train and support CNC operators on setup requirements, inspection methods, and production processes.

Monitor tool life and recommend tooling or process improvements.

Maintain accurate setup documentation and production records.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum 3 years of CNC setup experience in a manufacturing environment.

Experience with Haas CNC machines.

Experience setting up CNC mills and lathes.

Experience with GibbsCAM or similar CAM software.

Knowledge of aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, engineering plastics, and other production materials.

Forklift and overhead crane experience.

Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Ability to lift, move, and handle tooling, fixtures, and materials.

Ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment and material handling devices.

Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
