School Security Officer II**

**Overview:**

As a School Security Officer II, you will be responsible for providing armed protective service work to maintain order and discipline, preventing crime on school property, school buses, or at school-sponsored events. You will ensure the safety, security, and welfare of all students, faculty, staff, and visitors in the assigned school. **Responsibilities:**

• Provide armed protective service work to maintain order and discipline, preventing crime on school property, school buses, or at school-sponsored events
• Investigate violations of school policies and detain students violating the law or school board policies
• Recognize and identify activities or situations that have or may become a problem or emergency
• Think and respond quickly, effectively, and responsibly during emergencies
• Comprehend and/or explain various types of information clearly and concisely
• Interact and respond effectively to students, staff, and the community
• Prepare and maintain accurate reports
• Communicate effectively in both oral and written formats
• Use and operate a closed-circuit television system, security software programs, and other emergency/security equipment
• Understand the "last resort" imminent threat circumstances that necessitate the use of a firearm
• *Qualifications:**
• High School Diploma or GED
• Previous experience as a law enforcement officer
• Preferred: Experience in working with children
