Job Overview Police Officer - Entry Level - Bay Village, Cleveland, OH 28000 Wolf Road, Bay Village, OH 44140 The City of Bay Village is conducting a competitive examination for the position of Entry Level Police Officer from April 15, 2025 through June 1, 2025. Candidates must complete the examination, submit a Civil Service application, and meet eligibility requirements to be considered. Eligibility and Test Credits Competitive examination completed by June 1, 2025. Submission of City of Bay Village Civil Service application by June 1, 2025. Additional credit points (up to ten) may be awarded for: Associate or Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Police Science, or any field (5 points). Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) certification with two years' experience or 4,160 hours equivalent (5 points). OPOTA certification without experience (2 points). Honorably discharged veteran with at least one continuous year of active military service (5 points). Documentation for credit must accompany the Civil Service application. Qualifications Age: 21 to 40 years at time of appointment. High School Graduate or GED. Valid Driver's License. Ability to read, speak, and understand English. Vision: Normal with or without correction. Preferred college education (not required). State of Ohio OPOTA certification or ability to obtain one. LEADS Certification, Firearm Proficiency Qualification, and any other State of Ohio required licenses or certifications. Physical fitness capable of performing a wide range of activities such as lifting, carrying, reaching, climbing, bending, pushing/pulling, twisting/turning, keyboarding, sitting, standing, walking, crawling and running. Statement of Duties and Typical Tasks Patrol assigned areas to enforce laws and maintain public order. Respond to emergency calls and provide immediate assistance. Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and prepare reports. Perform traffic enforcement and safety inspections. Provide public safety education and community outreach. Maintain accurate records and documentation. Salary and Benefits Probationary base annual salary: $65,156 (Hourly rate $31.32). After 1 year: $70,975 base (Hourly $34.12). After 2 years: $80,038 base (Hourly $38.48). After 3 years: $90,724 base (Hourly $43.62).
