Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) will be assigned to patients who require assistance with personal care in their home. The service shall be given pursuant to physician's orders and will be supervised by a Registered Nurse. When an aide is assigned in the provision of Therapeutic services other than nursing, additional supervision may be given by Physical, Speech or Occupational Therapists, or a Social Worker, as is deemed appropriate.
Responsibilities and Duties
The duties of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) shall include but are not limited to:
1. Assisting patient with bathing, care of mouth, skin and hair.
2. Preparation of meals and assisting patients with eating.
3. Performing household services which will facilitate the patients self care at home and are necessary to prevent or postpone institutionalization.
4. Assisting patient in and out of bed, and assisting with ambulation.
5. Assisting with prescribed exercises which patients and home health aides have been taught by appropriate personnel.
6. Reporting changes in the patient's condition and needs to the Case Manager.
7. Assisting patient to the bathroom or in using bedpan or bedside commode.
8. Following written instructions for patient care as directed by the Case Manager.
9. Complete appropriate charting.
Qualifications and Skills
Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate or higher credentials.
