Lessonspace Senior Backend Engineer

Founded in South Africa, Lessonspace now operates globally, with Europe and North America as our biggest markets. We are growing and we’re looking for a talented and ambitious engineer to help us accelerate the release of education tools and features.

At Lessonspace, you'll work with cutting edge technologies (including things like WebRTC, CRDTs, Janus and Vue) across a globally networked system to provide reliable audio, video and collaborative tools to enable education worldwide. A big focus of yours will be focusing on the core of our real-time software stack.

You'll work closely with the technical leads to develop new tech and expand our existing stack to let us deliver new features that the world’s largest tutoring providers can depend on at scale to support and grow their businesses. Our ideal candidate for this role is an engineer with proven aptitude and experience working independently on complex problems, looking to take their development to the next level in a small but highly skilled team. You will be given a large degree of freedom in how you work and pursue solutions, in a company with a deliberately flat hierarchy, no micromanagement, and an open culture.
