Phlebotomist – Job Summary
This role focuses on safe, accurate, and compassionate specimen collection in a fast-paced clinical environment. The phlebotomist performs blood draws, processes specimens, and supports administrative tasks to ensure high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles
- Collect, label, process, and store specimens (blood, urine, etc.)
- Verify test orders and ensure accurate specimen identification
- Prepare and package samples for transport per protocols
- Maintain specimen integrity (centrifuging, freezing, storage)
- Update patient records and complete order entry
- Provide clear communication and excellent patient service
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow regulations
- Assist with troubleshooting and workflow improvements
- Support training and float between locations as needed
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong venipuncture and specimen handling skills
- Knowledge of lab procedures and order verification
- Data entry accuracy and basic Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience
- Experience with pediatric and geriatric patients
- Experience in lab, medical assisting, or sample handling
- Phlebotomy certification (a plus)
Work Environment
- Clinical lab or patient service center setting
- Monday–Friday daytime shifts (typically 6 AM–6 PM)
- May float between multiple locations
- Hands-on work with lab equipment and patient interaction

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Wayne, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.24 - $22.24/hr.
