NOTE: THIS POSITION IS ELIGIBLE FOR REMOTE WORK IF RESIDING MORE THEN 30 MILES FROM A PHYSICAL NUSCALE OFFICE.  WORK MUST BE PERFORMED WITHIN THE CONTIGUOUS UNITED STATES WITH TRAVEL AS REQUIRED FOR BUSINESS NEEDS.

POSITION SUMMARY: This position reports to the Senior Manager, Nuclear Fuels and works collaboratively with the Nuclear Fuels leadership team and other organizations within NuScale. This role is the primary individual representing Nuclear Fuels responsibilities for establishing the nuclear fuel products and services program. The Program Engineer ensures the Fuel Program remains aligned with the technical infrastructure, the fuel products and services, and related programmatic and commercial elements. The role operates at the intersection of technical depth and business acumen, requiring fluency in nuclear fuel engineering, reload cycle management, and the commercial frameworks that govern fuel supply agreements. Practical knowledge of key discipline interfaces within Nuclear Fuels is critical and must be complemented with the ability to collaborate at interfaces that cross multiple business functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Identify and characterize the full scope of fuels services to be offered — including reload core design, safety analysis, fuel procurement support, and fuel program management — with explicit distinction between services currently available and those under active development.

Interface with business development, contracts, and executive leadership to ensure the fuels program strategy is integrated into broader company commercialization plans.

Propose and evaluate business models for nuclear fuel products and services that align with company strategy and product architecture, including fuel and supply chain considerations that are unique to NuScale.

Provide input to cash flow models and pricing frameworks for nuclear fuel services.

Develop standard reload core design and safety analysis schedules to support internal resource planning and customer commitment management, accounting for NRC review timelines, fuel fabrication lead times, reload outage windows, and contingencies.

Serve as a technical point of contact for customer discussions related to fuel supply scope, schedule, and engineering services during early program development.

Coordinate with Nuclear Methods, Nuclear Design, and Licensing teams to ensure customer commitments are consistent with internal capability maturity and regulatory status.

Support the development of customer-facing materials describing fuel product and service offerings, including scope summaries, schedule frameworks, and transition milestones

Exercise in-depth knowledge of industry best-practices and NuScale-specific differentiators to support development of competitive product and service offerings.

Contribute to technical planning and development of product and service offerings and ensure alignment between development of technical and commercial elements.

Maintain an understanding of how design and analysis interfaces are managed within Nuclear Fuels disciplines (including core design, fuel design, subchannel thermal-hydraulics, and transient analysis) and across other functional disciplines within Engineering.

Communicate professionally in areas of responsibility across disciplines, at various levels of the organization, and with internal and external stakeholders including customers and regulatory bodies.

Assess market conditions and develop proposals and business cases for additional product and service offering recommendations.

Provide direct technical contributions to engineering work in areas of expertise, up to approximately 25% of time.
