Overview

Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services. Supports plasma center operations, reports to the Plasma Center Manager, and works under the guidance of the Center Physician for medical issues.

Responsibilities

Determine donor eligibility and manage informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).

Evaluate donor reactions at the facility as outlined in SOPs; follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of the Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.

Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance regarding medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.

Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.

Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER, referencing EHS guidance.

Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing education program with state requirements.

Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT‑Paramedic.

Current CPR and AED certification.

Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.

Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.

Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
