## What this position does

This role installs, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, rebuilds, and operates HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) systems and related equipment. That includes compressors, pumps, condensers, piping, motors, controls, and air distribution systems. You will perform operational testing, system adjustments, and preventive/corrective maintenance to keep refrigeration and air conditioning systems safe and efficient.

Typical duties include:

• Overhauling and rebuilding refrigeration equipment such as valves, springs, couplings, piping, packing, and related components.
• Loading refrigeration mediums such as Freon and ammonia into HVAC/R systems as required.
• Performing sheet metal work associated with HVAC duct systems.
• Analyzing equipment failures and determining appropriate corrective actions.
• Replacing mechanical and electrical components including fuses, heat elements, thermostats, and control units.
• Operating and monitoring built-up air conditioning and refrigeration systems during startup, shutdown, and normal operations.
• Inspecting HVAC/R systems and components to identify defects, leaks, or malfunctions.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, specifications, and maintenance documentation.
• Using hand tools, testing devices, and precision measuring instruments to perform maintenance and repairs.
• Performing other duties as assigned and providing guidance and assistance to lower-graded employees when needed.

## Qualifications and physical expectations

Mandatory qualifications include up to 5 years of HVAC/R or refrigeration maintenance experience and a working knowledge of refrigeration mechanics, HVAC/R systems, and associated controls. You should have the ability to read and interpret maintenance blueprints, sketches, and specifications; experience using hand tools, testing devices, and precision measuring instruments; and the ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical system failures. You must be able to work independently and in a team environment, work outside normal schedules including peak periods and surge requirements, and maintain regular attendance in accordance with established work schedules. Professional conduct and adherence to workplace safety standards are required. Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications applicable to the position is specified, and a valid driver’s license when operating company vehicles is required.

Physical requirements include moderate physical effort for sustained periods while handling light to medium-weight parts and equipment, working in awkward positions and climbing on or around equipment, and the ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined or elevated spaces as required. You must be able to work in industrial and outdoor environments under varying conditions.
