Job Title: Pharmacy Technician
Job Description
This full-time Pharmacy Technician position plays a key role in safely and accurately preparing prescription medications in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. You will support pharmacists by processing, filling, and packaging prescriptions, maintaining drug inventory and work station supplies, and occasionally contacting patients regarding their orders. The role requires strong attention to detail, comfort working within multiple computer systems, and a commitment to delivering timely, accurate, and sometimes life-saving medications.
Responsibilities
- Process and fill prescription orders in preparation for pharmacist verification, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations and procedures.
- Retrieve medications from stock, count and package orders, and prepare them for final pharmacist review.
- Perform packing and shipping of completed prescription orders to patients, following established standards for accuracy and safety.
- Maintain drug inventory, including monitoring stock levels, organizing medications, and supporting the management of automated dispensing units.
- Replenish work station supplies needed for filling prescriptions, such as vials, caps, labels, and other packaging materials.
- Remove outdated products from shelves to ensure only in-date medications are available for dispensing.
- Assist with inventory replenishment and maintain par levels of pre-packaged auxiliary items.
- Work within multiple computer systems simultaneously to process prescriptions, update records, and respond to inquiries.
- Respond to questions and provide specific medication details or basic clinical information within the scope of a pharmacy technician role.
- Occasionally contact patients for customer service calls related to their prescriptions, including inquiries about orders that have shipped.
- Follow all applicable policies, procedures, and quality standards to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient medication dispensing.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and other team members to support smooth workflow and timely order fulfillment.
Essential Skills
- Active New Jersey (NJ) state Pharmacy Technician license.
- Prior pharmacy technician experience (pharm tech experience) in a retail, mail-order, or similar pharmacy environment.
- Experience working with prescription processing, including filling, counting, and packaging medications.
- Ability to work within multiple computer systems simultaneously to process and track prescription orders.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling medications and patient information.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while meeting productivity and quality standards.
- Strong organizational skills to manage inventory, supplies, and multiple tasks at once.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with pharmacists, colleagues, and patients.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with prior authorization processes is beneficial.
- Familiarity with automated dispensing units and related pharmacy technologies.
- Comfort making customer service calls to patients regarding prescription orders and shipments.
- Ability to adapt to changing business needs, including occasional overtime or weekend work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve issues related to prescription orders and inventory.

Work Environment
This is an onsite role on the second shift in a pharmacy operations setting. The position is full-time at 40 hours per week, scheduled Sunday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Candidates must be flexible to work an 8-hour shift within these hours and may occasionally be required to work overtime or weekends based on business needs. The environment is fast-paced and high volume, with a strong focus on accuracy, efficiency, and timely delivery of medications. You will work at a workstation equipped with multiple computer systems, automated dispensing units, and standard pharmacy packaging supplies such as vials, caps, and labels. The setting emphasizes adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards while supporting a collaborative team culture focused on reliable patient care.

This is a Contract position based out of Pine Brook, NJ.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
