Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Certified Welder to join our dynamic team. This role is essential in constructing, repairing, and maintaining metal structures and components across various projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in welding techniques, blueprint interpretation, and mechanical fabrication, ensuring all work meets industry standards and safety regulations. Duties
- Perform MIG, TIG, FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), Manual, 3G vertical up, 4G overhead and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) to fabricate and repair metal structures, from precast to structural steel, in accordance with blueprints and technical schematics.
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine welding specifications and assembly procedures.
- Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, and shop math to measure, cut, shape, and assemble sheet metal, ductwork, piping, and other fabricated components.
- Operate fabrication equipment such as press brake machines, plasma cutters, and pipe threading tools to achieve precise cuts and bends.
- Follow AWS (American Welding Society) standards and ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) codes & standards to ensure quality control and safety compliance.
- Conduct rigging, assembly, welding inspections, and quality checks on completed work while adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Ability to work at heights and from aerial lifts.
- Maintain detailed records of welding procedures, inspection reports, and project documentation for accountability and traceability.
Skills
- Extensive construction site experience with a solid understanding of construction processes and safety practices.
- Proficiency in MIG welding, TIG welding, FCAW, SMAW, gas metal arc welding (GMAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), and specific welding techniques.
- Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and schematics accurately.
- Skilled in using calipers, micrometers, shop math, hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, pipe threading equipment, and other fabrication machinery.
- Knowledge of metal fabrication including sheet metal fabrication and ductwork assembly.
- Familiarity with rigging practices for lifting heavy materials safely using forklifts or other rigging equipment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to pipe threading, machining processes, soldering techniques, and schematic reading.
- Understanding of ASME codes & standards for pressure vessels or piping systems is a plus.
- Ability to work efficiently on construction sites or fabrication shops while maintaining high safety standards.
