About the role:
Samsara's Financial Operations team is the engine behind our company's most critical financial processes — ensuring every dollar in and out of the organization is managed with precision, integrity, and scale. As the Senior Director, Financial Operations, you will own two core operational pillars: the end-to-end Source to Pay lifecycle (strategic sourcing, vendor management, accounts payable, and procurement operations) and Compensation Operations (global payroll, equity administration, and sales commissions). You will be a critical leader who builds best-in-class processes, drives automation and transformation, and delivers an exceptional experience for our employees and vendor partners across a high-growth public company environment.
This is a remote position open to candidates based in the United States. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.
In this role, you will:
Lead and scale a broad Financial Operations organization spanning Source-to-Pay, Global Payroll, Equity Administration, and Sales Commissions
Drive strategic sourcing, vendor management, and procurement governance across major spend categories, with full ownership of the P2P technology stack
Oversee accurate and compliant global payroll operations across all jurisdictions, partnering closely with Human Resources, Treasury and Accounting
Own all equity plan administration and regulatory compliance, serving as the company's internal expert
Oversee sales incentive compensation design, calculation, and administration in partnership with Sales Operations
Serve as a key financial operations partner to executive leadership, support SEC disclosures, board reporting, and financial strategy across all functional areas
Maintain a strong SOX control environment and serve as the primary audit liaison across Financial Operations processes
Champion AI-driven automation and process transformation while developing high-performing teams and partnering broadly across Finance, Legal, People, IT, and Sales
Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
Hire, develop and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team
Minimum requirements for the role:
12+ years of experience in financial operations, with meaningful depth across Source to Pay and/or Compensation Operations
Demonstrated experience leading multi-functional teams spanning diverse operational functions
Experience operating in a SOX-compliant public company environment, including designing and maintaining controls and serving as a liaison to internal and external auditors
Experience owning enterprise-level systems across S2P and/or Compensation Operations (e.g., Coupa, SAP, Workday, ADP, Schwab/Computershare, CaptivateIQ, or Xactly)
A track record of driving large-scale process transformation (people, process, and systems) with measurable business outcomes
Familiarity with AI and automation tools applied to financial operations use cases such as anomaly detection, commission validation, or employee self-service
Strong executive presence and experience influencing VP- and C-level stakeholders on complex financial and compensation topics
The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role is also eligible for an initial RSU grant with no vesting cliff, and ongoing refresh opportunities tied to performance, subject to plan terms and conditions.
