Job Summary

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the daily planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of the daily operations and clinical practice of assigned patient care areas, in order to provide quality, individualized patient care and support of Medical Center philosophies. The Nurse Manager will lead staff to model a professional practice environment by: providing a clinically competent staff; encouraging strong interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication; supporting autonomy and accountability; providing staff opportunities for in- service and formal education; stressing the importance of continuous learning; and supporting a culture where concern for the patient is paramount.

The Nurse Manager supports research, participates in both long- and short-term strategic planning, and assures patient advocacy. The Nurse Manager is accountable to the Practice Manager and Director of Ambulatory Nursing Practice.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), plus either a completed Master’s degree in Nursing or a related field, or active enrollment in a Master’s program with completion required within three (3) years of hire. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field or an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), combined with a completed Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN or MS), is accepted.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ nursing management experience required.
  • Minimum of five (5) year’s experience direct patient care nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Meets specialty specific clinical competencies for assigned area
  • Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of health care technology within specialty area
  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues.
  • Full command (verbal and written) of the English language.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, Title XXII, federal and state regulations
  • Ability to occasionally provide direct patient care, including moving and positioning patients (with assistance as needed to ensure employee and patient safety) and assisting with multiple exams and procedures that cumulatively may last several hours at a time. Ability to frequently move throughout the clinic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NE-BC or NEA-BC, AMB-BC, and or certification of field of practice.
  • Experience in a multispecialty environment.

Department Overview

The Internal Medicine Specialty Clinic takes immense pride in being one of the country's most productive and dynamic centers of academic medicine as well as one of the largest clinical specialty departments at UC Davis Health. The Internal Medicine Specialty Clinic at the Ellison Ambulatory Care Center houses Endocrinology, Infectious Disease, Nephrology, Rheumatology, and Allergy. Our physicians have advanced medical training, extensive clinical experience, and technological expertise to treat patients within their specialty discipline. Multidisciplinary teams from a variety of divisions interact across UC Davis Health through a singular Electronic Medical Record platform to provide comprehensive care and collaborate on innovative research to provide world class care. Our physicians and staff are dedicated to the compassionate practice of medicine and a continuum of care that extends beyond

primary care through the specialties. The clinic also has dedicated Registered Nurses, Registered Dieticians, and Pharmacists to assist with patient's clinical needs and research.

Department Specific Job Scope

Specialty Services: Endocrinology, Nephrology, Rheumatology, Infectious Disease and Allergy

Care Delivery Model: Team-based care integrating physicians, advanced practice providers, RNs, LVNs, and medical assistants

This structure enables continuity of care, reduced fragmentation, and improved patient access, while also introducing complexity in staffing, throughput, and coordination.

This position supports the Internal Medicine Specialty Clinic and has clinical oversight of two Academic clinic locations in Sacramento.

POSITION INFORMATION

  • Salary or Pay Range: $157,700.00 - $338,900.00
