Job Summary: Prepares lesson plans and instructs students in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth

General Responsibilities:

  • Prepare instructional materials and lesson plans with clear objectives, and programs correlated effectively.
  • Submit all Lesson and Unit Plans weekly for review and approval from the Department Head.
  • Make use of New York State standards and curriculum maps to guide and aid to effective teaching.
  • Be cognizant of and able to utilize instructional modalities that meet the varied learning styles of students.
  • Provide real motivation for each student with skills learned through training.
  • Carefully evaluate the academic status and aptitude of each student. This evaluation should be based upon timely correction of assignments and assessments, class participation, projects, independent study, homework, and unit and standard achievement tests. Note: Hope Hall does not participate in New York State standardized testing for grades three through eight.
  • Maintain an updated record of academic status and achievement for each student, utilizing grade books, report cards, portfolios, special individualized reports, and other evidence of student growth.
  • Maintain student attendance records accurately and currently.
  • Be present at parent-teacher conferences, open house, departmental, and general faculty meetings.
  • Strive for the honest development of student self-control, the highest form of discipline: to model for children respect and non-violent choices for problem solving.
  • Attend orientation programs.
  • Participate in professional development programs and professional development workshops.
  • Be present at in-service programs for professional advancement when requested.
  • Uphold the philosophy and goals of Hope Hall and the Dolce Method for Learning Mastery.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

Required:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education
  • Certification: Elementary / Childhood Education 1 - 6

Preferred:

  • Education: Master’s Degree or in progress
  • Certification: Elementary / Childhood Education 1 - 6 w/dual certification in Special Education and/or Literacy
  • Experience: 1 year of experience as a Teacher

Computer / Software Skills:

  • Google Workspace preferred
  • Blackbaud preferred

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and frequently use stairs. Required to move about multi-level buildings using stairs.
  • Occasionally required to bend and/or lift (no more than 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • Educational setting; ability to work with students
