Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
Anduril is seeking an Integration Test Engineer, specializing in Surrgoates Testing to join the Omen team at our Costa Mesa HQ. Omen is Anduril’s hover-to-cruise autonomous air vehicle (AAV) that packs the endurance, payload, and mission flexibility of much larger airplanes into a novel runway-independent Group 3 platform. Omen can operate from ship decks, beaches, or remote island clearings, providing true runway independence and freedom of maneuver across defense and civilian domains. Omen is the first tail-sitter aircraft with a mass-production contract, with an order of 50 systems representing a decisive investment that anchors production and accelerates the development of future systems.
You will lead the planning, integration, and execution of flight test activities using surrogate platforms, including crewed test-beds with representative payload pods, full-size mock-ups, and powertrain rigs to characterize and demonstrate subsystem performance in representative environments before integration into air vehicles. All of this in a lean, high-ownership culture where you directly shape the product and operate at a velocity to fly new designs within months, not years.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Own surrogate platform test activities including crewed carry/representative pod configurations, full-size mock-ups (with partial or full system integration) and powertrain rigs
Develop, review, and execute right-sized test plans for surrogate flight test activities, efficiently capturing and reporting learnings, and making recommendations as inputs to design
Lead integration of Vehicle and Mission System components onto surrogate platforms for characterization in representative flight envelopes (altitude, airspeed, temperature, vibration)
Evolve and demonstrate Support System design with full-size mock-ups
Coordinate crewed surrogate operations including pod integration, instrumentation, pre-flight checks, and mission planning
Support subscale UAS flight operations for software and subsystem development teams
Plan and execute powertrain rig operations for powertrain and control system integration testing
Ensure safety of airborne test environments through structured hazard identification and risk management
Coordinate test range access, airspace approvals, spectrum approvals, and operational permissions across CONUS and UAE locations
Implement and maintain processes for configuration control of surrogate test assets and installed instrumentation
Support Flight Test Instrumentation (FTI) integration, including telemetry systems, for real-time data during surrogate flights
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES
Bachelor degree or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering or aviation related technical discipline
5+ years experience in flight test operations, preferably with uncrewed or autonomous air systems (Group 3 or larger)
Experience integrating subsystems, payloads, and flight test instrumentation (FTI) onto flight platforms, including telemetry and real-time monitoring
Knowledge of airspace management, flight test safety and test range operations
Adept at working safely with high voltage systems, including integration, checkout and test
Strong test engineering foundation — DAQ setup and operation, sensor selection and installation, fluency in common communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, Serial), and command line interface (CLI)
Extremely organized and detail-oriented, excellent verbal and written communication skills (effective for broad audiences)
A sincere commitment to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture
Defense Industry background desirable
Eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance in United States, United Kingdom, or Australia
