The OT also provides education and training to facility staff to support optimal resident outcomes.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEvaluate residents within 24 hours (or one business day) of physician referral; document any delays appropriatelyDevelop individualized treatment plans and obtain physician approvalTreat residents according to the physician-approved plan of careSupervise Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs), aides, and students in accordance with state practice actAssist nursing staff with training of Restorative AidesCommunicate resident progress, challenges, and plans with the rehab and interdisciplinary teamsParticipate in care conferences, utilization review meetings, and rehab meetings as neededComplete evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, recertifications, and discharge documentation per regulatory and payer requirementsEducate residents, families, and caregivers on maintenance programs and discharge planningParticipate in discharge planning and coordination of careRecommend and facilitate ordering of durable medical equipment (DME) to promote independenceReport equipment issues to ensure safe and effective operationMaintain positive, professional relationships with residents, families, and staffSupervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs), aides, and studentsQualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy requiredMaster’s or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy preferredSkilled Nursing Facility or geriatric experience preferredLicensure & CertificationsCurrent, active California Occupational Therapist license in good standingMust meet all continuing education requirements per state regulationsSkillsProficient in electronic documentation systems (NetHealth and PointClickCare preferred)Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a collaborative teamWork EnvironmentInpatient Skilled Nursing FacilityLong-term care and short-term rehabilitationGeriatric populationOne primary locationEqual Employment Opportunity (EEO) StatementBakersfield Post Acute is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
