Position Summary
The Electrical Project Manager / Estimator is responsible for leading projects from pre-construction through closeout while also preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates. This dual-role position requires strong technical knowledge, financial oversight, and leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating Pre-Construction
Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to prepare detailed electrical estimates
Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, and subcontractor pricing
Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategies
Prepare and present bid proposals and scope clarifications
Participate in bid reviews and project handoff meetings
Project Management
Manage multiple electrical projects from award through completion
Develop project schedules, budgets, and manpower plans
Coordinate with clients, general contractors, engineers, and field teams
Monitor project progress, costs, and productivity
Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and company policies
Manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation
Lead project meetings and provide regular status updates
Oversee procurement of materials and equipment
Financial Operational Oversight
Track job costs, forecasting, and profitability
Manage billing, cash flow, and project financial reporting
Analyze variances between estimated and actual costs
Ensure timely project closeout, including punch lists and final documentation
Required Skills Qualifications
5+ years of experience in electrical estimating and/or project management
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, construction methods, and NEC codes
Experience with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, McCormick, or similar)
Proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
