Job Description
Purpose of Job:
Installation and maintenance of all plumbing systems including sanitary facilities, water supplies, storm water and sewage disposal, medical gases and fire protection sprinkler systems.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Designs and implements a progressive preventive maintenance system.
- Ensures and provides a safe means of disposal of sanitary sewer and storm drainagesystem throughout the hospital.
- Provides for the installation of all domestic hot and cold water as needed throughout the hospital. Maintains and repairs hot & chilled water piping for heating/cooling systems.
- Provides, installs and maintains all medical gases necessary for the operation of the hospital.
- Installs and maintains fire protection sprinkler system.
- Performs and communicates with and around all patients, staff, and visitors within theconfines of the hospital.
- Participates in On-Call Program for trade area.
- Serves as a role model for consistent demonstration of Sparrow Health System’s Customer Service Behavioral Standards of Performance, by respecting the Privacy and Confidentiality of those we serve.
- Demonstrates knowledge and respects patient, service provider, and organizational confidentiality and HIPAA Security procedures and protocols as defined under the HIPAA Privacy and Security Procedures.
- Follows established HIPAA privacy procedures when using and/or disclosing protected health information.
Job Requirements
General Requirements
- State of Michigan Journeyman Plumber License or higher. • Drives hospital/department vehicles. Must have valid driver’s license.
Work Experience
- 6 Years Journeyman experience preferred
Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of plumbing code required by the city or state • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blue prints • Demonstrated mathematical skills
