Job Description:

Position Overview:

The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in providing administrative and clinical support in a healthcare setting. This position requires a combination of administrative skills, some medical knowledge, and excellent communication abilities to ensure smooth operations and quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Clinical Assistance:

  • Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for their appointments.
  • Record medical histories, and other pertinent information accurately.
  • Assist physicians during medical procedures and examinations.
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked with necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Help patients with shoes

2. Administrative Support:

  • Assist with medical record management, including filing, scanning, and organizing documents.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations.
  • Coordinate referrals to specialists and diagnostic facilities as per physician instructions.
  • Handle correspondence, emails, and faxes in a timely manner.
  • Phone etiquette
  • Scheduling

3. Laser Tech

  • Perform therapeutic laser treatments as prescribed by the physician.
  • Prepare patients for laser therapy by reviewing treatment plans and explaining procedures.
  • Document all treatments accurately within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Ensure laser treatment rooms are clean and organized.
  • Perform routine cleaning, maintenance checks, and report equipment concerns promptly.

4. Compliance and Documentation:

  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Document patient interactions, medical histories, and treatments accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Follow established protocols and workflows to ensure compliance with healthcare standards.

5. Customer Service:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, addressing their concerns and ensuring their comfort. Some of our patients have limited flexibility. Helping patients with shoes and socks during their visit.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Demonstrate empathy, patience, and professionalism in all interactions.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical assistant program not required.
  • Basic clinical procedures, and administrative tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical insurance.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing healthcare regulations and technology.
