Dunn Trim Co. is East Tennessee’s trim and finish carpentry crew, handling the whole finish package for custom homes and commercial buildouts around Knoxville. We’re looking for a skilled Trim Carpenter to own the on‑site work: cutting, fitting, and installing high‑end finish carpentry day in and day out.
This role is hands‑on in the field, not an office or admin position. You’ll focus on production and craftsmanship while the owner handles scheduling, bidding, and most communication with builders.
What you’ll do (on‑site focused)
- Install cabinets, vanities, and built‑ins: set plumb, level, scribed tight, and counter‑ready.
- Run base, casing, crown, and other mouldings with clean copes, tight joints, and consistent reveals.
- Install beams, coffered and specialty ceilings, shiplap and tongue‑and‑groove, and wall paneling laid out to the room.
- Hang interior doors (prehung and slab), set hardware, and install stair components (treads, risers, skirts, rails, balusters) as needed.
- Read and follow plans, elevations, and site directions from the owner or GC site supervisor.
- Handle light jobsite communication: basic Q/A with supers, clarify details, and coordinate where you’re working that day.
- Keep a broom‑clean work area, protect finishes, and treat every home or building as if it were your own.dunntrimco
Who you are
- Solid trim/finish carpentry experience (typically 3–5+ years in the field).
- Strong skills in at least several of the following: cabinet setting, interior trim and moulding, doors and hardware, beams/ceilings, wall paneling, and stairs.
- Able to work from drawings and instructions with minimal hand‑holding once the scope is explained.
- Comfortable using miter saws, table saws, routers, nail guns, lasers, and typical trim carpentry tools.
- Reliable transportation to jobs around Knoxville and East Tennessee.
- Shows up on time, works steadily, and takes pride in clean, detailed finish work.
- Easy to communicate with: because DTC puts an emphasis on employee development, employees need to be able to receive and iterate upon constructive feedback.
How Dunn Trim Co. operates
At Dunn Trim Co., we keep standards high and egos low. We have a startup‑like culture where guys who enjoy the grind of striving for perfection push each other to get better without turning it into drama.
We hold a tight internal quality bar: clean lines, tight joints, layouts that make sense in the room, and a punch list that stays short. That drive to improve creates a healthy, internal competitiveness that keeps everyone sharp.
We also put a huge amount of emphasis on employee development - guys who want to be developed, will be. We are a meritocracy, meaning your compensation and responsibility is directly correlated with your input and development.
As a company, we’re scaling on purpose—not by cranking volume and letting quality slide. You’ll be part of a crew that wants to grow, but not at the cost of standards or reputation. You’ll work for a company with clean, professional branding, a forward‑thinking and experienced leadership team, and you’ll do craftsman‑level work you can point to with your name on it.
What you can expect
- Consistent trim‑only work with a crew that does finish carpentry all day, every day.
- Clear scopes, on‑site direction, and support from a founder‑led company that takes craftsmanship seriously.
- A professional but straightforward jobsite culture: show up, do solid work, leave it clean.
Schedule and location
- Full‑time, year‑round field work.
- Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, daytime, with occasional flexibility depending on jobsite needs.
- Jobs primarily in Knoxville, TN and surrounding East Tennessee areas.
