This position is responsible for supporting the team of chefs by providing administrative support for all purchasing and receiving functions to ensure orders are placed and received as required. Ensures all Food & Beverage operations have ingredients needed in support of food cost operating margins.
Job Class: Full-Time Hiring Range: $26.68 - $30.00hour Direct Reports: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties
Maintains FOODTRAK inventory software to ensure that all items purchased have been accurately entered prior to purchase.
Responsible for ordering food, beverage, supplies and small wares for Food & Beverage and other internal departments. This includes front of house as well as back of house necessities.
Provides the chefs with all necessary food cost data required in the menu development process and for all special menus.
Proactively advises culinary team of market price dynamics to enable them to make adjustments to menus.
Ensures all perishable products are dated upon delivery. Stocks and rotates product on shelves assuring old before new usage guidelines (FIFO).
Makes all necessary adjustments from the invoice to the receiving document; ensuring that the quantity ordered, pack size, item code and pricing are correct.
Places all banquet orders, including all special orders taking into consideration lead times on specialty products.
Ensures food meets DMNS quality standards.
Fully utilizes product and minimizes waste to achieve food cost objectives.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent.
3 years’ experience in purchasing and receiving for large foodservice units or hotel environments.
Current Serve Safe Certification or ability to obtain within one month of hire.
May need to use personal vehicle for DMNS business. If so, must comply with all ongoing expectations outlined in DMNS Vehicle Use Policy to drive for museum related business.
Ideal Candidate Will Be/Have
Experience with inventory management and procurement processes
Strong organizational and follow-up skills
Experience working with vendors and third-party partners
Proficiency in FoodTrak and Excel
Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
Hospitality, catering, food service, or restaurant experience preferred
