Role Summary :

Versant Sports is hiring a Production Assistant who will be a part of our growing team of digital content experts on the Sports digital team. The ideal candidate is creative, adaptable, and very fast at clipping and creating digital video content. Job duties include producing digital-first Sports content for YouTube, social, websites and mobile optimized platforms. The ideal candidate should have prior experience in Sports video production, proven video editing skills, and a clear understanding of the key difference between traditional media and digital-first content. Experience as a multi-platform creator in Sports will best suit this role.

This is a project based / limited term position with an estimated duration of up to 6 months, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.

Responsibilities :

Responsible for contributing to the day-to-day coverage of the Versant sports portfolio, including but not limited to Golf, NASCAR, Premier League, basketball and volleyball.

Edit with ease in Adobe Premiere

Clip segments from live sporting events and studio shows in real time.

Create 3+ digital video stories per day, often under tight Sports-driven deadlines.

Cut multiple sports news highlights, often during live events, for digital video distribution. Write headlines, captions and metadata to match video

Strong sports news judgement with ability to identify best clips to drive video views on Versant Sports sites, YouTube etc.

Work with Versant Sport’s video and editorial teams to create highly-sharable content.

Create SEO-optimized headlines and captions that factually represent your video story and drive video views.

Optimize sound and lighting quality in videos, create simple graphic transitions, add text on screen and other graphics and easily export videos.

Contribute to team brainstorms by pitching content ideas that will help build video views, on-site and off-site traffic and audience

Produce branded content, as needed

Juggle multiple projects with parallel timelines

Maintain voice and content standards across multiple platforms and brands.

Qualifications :

BA or BS from a four-year accredited college or university or equivalent experience

Minimum of (1-2) years of experience producing short form digital video content end-to-end for digital platforms

Working knowledge with the Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere and Photoshop)

Demonstrated knowledge of sports, particularly Golf / NASCAR / WNBA / College Football and/or Premier League

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Eligibility Requirements :

Must have ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings due to sports schedules and game coverage

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week

Desired Characteristics :

Experience working for a sports league, team or associated industry in a creative Familiarity with live-video clipping platforms a plus, such as Wildmoka, WSC, Grabyo, etc.

Extensive knowledge of sports and internet culture and a pulse on the latest trends

YouTube publishing and platform strategy experience a strong plus

Strong organizational skills; attention to detail

Strong communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment

Self-motivated with a proactive attitude and a willingness to learn

Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines

Creative thinker who can look at digital trends and find innovative ways to tell a story in a piece of content
