Job Title: Senior Property Accountant
Location: Sarasota, FL
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Job Summary:
The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for managing and executing various accounting procedures for a portfolio of clients, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliation, financial reporting, and analysis. This role will support the month-end and year-end closing processes, assist in financial audits, and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial documents including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, debt, debt covenant compliance, corporate overhead, budgets and payroll. Conduct detailed variance analysis and provide insights into financial performance.
- Cash Management: Prepare calculations and documents/process transactions for funding, reserve account reimbursements, bi-weekly payroll, security deposit refunds and vendor payments.
- General Ledger: Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
- Account Reconciliation: Perform/oversee regular reconciliation of key accounts, such as bank, investments, escrow accounts, accounts payable/receivable, credit card statements, mortgage debt, payroll and intercompany transactions. Research and resolve discrepancies/issues.
- Month-End & Year-End Close: Lead month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of financial results.
- Audit Support: Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits, providing necessary documentation, explanations, and support.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory requirements. Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
- Budgeting & Forecasting Assistance: Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities as needed.
- Mentorship & Development: Provide guidance to junior accounting team members, promoting a culture of accuracy, integrity, and growth within the team.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2-5 years of progressive relevant accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
- Advanced math skills. Ability to calculate complicated figures such as percentages, fractions and other financial related calculations.
Work Environment:
- This position typically works in an office environment.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Salary: $60,000-$70,000/year
