About the position
We’re hiring a skilled Wire EDM Machinist to set up, operate, and optimize CNC Wire EDM equipment producing high-precision tooling and components for metal packaging and high-volume manufacturing. This is a hands-on role for a detail-driven machinist who takes pride in tight tolerances, clean setups, and consistent, high-quality output. Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor CNC Wire EDM machines to produce precision components and tooling
- Interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, tolerances, and manufacturing routings
- Make program edits, offsets, and adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and optimize performance
- Determine machining strategy based on print requirements and process flow
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring tools and CMM equipment
- Troubleshoot machine, programming, setup, and tooling issues to minimize downtime
- Manage wire, electrodes, and consumables to maintain efficient production
- Run multiple EDM machines and support lights-out / unattended machining operations
- Support scheduling for overnight and weekend unattended production
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards, safety guidelines, and quality requirements
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to improve processes and reduce waste
- Cross-train and support CNC Milling and Turning operations as needed
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of CNC Wire EDM or RAM EDM experience
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills
- Hands-on experience with controls such as Fanuc, Makino, Mitsubishi, or similar
- Ability to edit CNC programs and document changes accurately
- Experience with first article and in-process inspection
- Proficient with precision measuring tools and CMM equipment
- Familiarity with ISO quality systems and manufacturing best practices
- High School Diploma or GED required
Nice-to-haves
- Technical training or apprenticeship preferred
- Technical school, machining certification, or apprenticeship training.
- Experience producing precision tooling, dies, molds, or metal forming components.
- CMM inspection experience.
- Experience operating CNC Mills and CNC Lathes.
- Manufacturing experience supporting metal packaging, consumer goods, or industrial production environments.
