Job Title: Quality Assurance Technician II
Job Description
The Quality Assurance Technician II supports quality assurance and quality control activities across Production, Engineering, Planning, and Supply Chain. This role develops inspection plans for complex products, supports First Article Inspection Reports, trains QC personnel on specialized inspection equipment, and ensures compliance with the quality management system and customer requirements. The technician interprets technical documents to identify specifications and key characteristics, selects appropriate inspection methods to verify conformance, assists with internal audits, dispositions non-conforming material, and supports customer and supplier claims, RMAs, and QMS documentation. The position plays an active role in the 8D/CAPA process, including investigation, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and verification of effectiveness, working closely with Quality Engineering to reduce product defects and variation.
Responsibilities
- Organize and execute daily priorities as directed by quality leadership while operating with minimal supervision and providing clear communication on task status and results.
- Set up and operate quality control inspection and test tools and equipment for incoming materials and components, in-process assemblies, and finished products.
- Provide hands-on training to QC personnel in the proper use of inspection and test tools and equipment.
- Develop, maintain, and update inspection plans and other QC documentation to ensure consistent and compliant inspection processes.
- Learn and use the SAP ERP system and Qlik reports to support assigned activities, including supplier and customer claims, MRB monitoring, QC usage decisions and transactions, and non-conforming material (NMR) dispositions.
- Work with cross-functional groups to determine root causes and corrective actions for trending non-conformities and defects.
- Support the 8D and CAPA processes by conducting investigations, performing root cause analysis, participating in problem-solving, implementing corrective and preventive actions, and verifying their effectiveness.
- Review NMR reports, collaborate with stakeholders to determine well-documented dispositions, and complete NMR documentation to close records in a timely manner.
- Interface with all departments to coordinate First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with internal QMS, AS9102, and customer requirements.
- Review and incorporate customer and product-specific requirements into FAI report preparation, compilation, and final approval.
- Support the organization and tracking of all FAI information to enable on-time delivery while meeting all customer requirements.
- Suggest and promote continuous improvement opportunities and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to implement process and quality improvements.
- Analyze product conformance against defined requirements and specifications and document findings accurately.
- Handle small, delicate parts carefully during inspection and testing to prevent damage.
- Collaborate with others to review issues and solve problems effectively using structured root cause analysis methods such as Ishikawa (fishbone) diagrams, 5 Whys, and A3.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 5 years combined experience in quality functional roles, including at least 1 year in a Quality Assurance-related role.
- Experience or familiarity with quality audits, corrective actions, and root cause analysis.
- Ability to analyze product conformance based on given requirements and technical specifications.
- Ability to work with small, delicate parts without causing damage during inspection or handling.
- Experience supporting or participating in corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities.
- Experience working with or supporting quality audits and audit findings.
- Ability to work effectively with others to review issues and solve problems using structured root cause analysis tools such as Ishikawa/fishbone diagrams, 5 Whys, and A3.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and working within a QMS-certified manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with multiple departments and document quality activities clearly and accurately.
- Ability to organize and prioritize daily work with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Fiber Optic Cabling, Radio Frequency, and interconnect products.
- Experience with AS9102 requirements and Net-Inspect for First Article Inspection reporting.
- Experience in an AS9100, ISO, IATF, or similar QMS-certified manufacturing company.
- Knowledge or experience with IPC standards such as IPC-620, IPC-610, and J-STD-related requirements (knowledge is a plus but not required).
