Position Summary:

UTHealth Houston is looking for a financial analyst who provides professional-level skills in performing simple to moderately complex financial analysis for the institution. They will complete financial analyses and assist in developing various institution-wide and operating-unit-specific financial reports. You must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment and be detail-oriented. Applicants will need to have intermediate to advanced Excel skills, as many of the reports and presentations are generated in spreadsheets. You will have to interact extensively with supervisors for clarification and consultation.

In this role, you will process purchase orders, submit various journal entries, and learn to generate invoices. This analyst will also deal with quarterly professional liability insurance for many of our clinicians. You can expect to generate financial reports monthly, quarterly, and annually. Various ad hoc reports will also need to be created. Analysis of revenues and expenditures will also be part of this job's responsibilities. Budget creation and auditing occur regularly as well.

You will work out of our University Center Tower located at Fannin and Pressler on the eighth floor. During your training period, you will need to come on-site to receive instructions and guidance. After the training period, some remote work may be available, depending on job requirements and performance.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop, prepare, analyze, and/or review reports summarizing financial activity for the institution.
  • Prepare and analyze historical and projected financial data to provide senior management with valuable information upon which to make relevant financial decisions.
  • May analyze, prepare, and/or review sponsored projects' financial activities.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of the annual financial report, the annual operating budget, quarterly operating projections, and the monthly financial report to senior management and UT System.
  • Prepare and analyze reconciliations of activity with UT System.
  • Analyze and prepare documentation and support as requested by internal and external auditors.
  • May assist in and/or prepare the indirect cost proposal for the institution.
  • May analyze and prepare needed adjustments to both actual and budget ledgers for the institution.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting required

Minimum Experience:

3 years of related experience in a financial or accounting area required

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
