We are looking for a detail-oriented, numbers-driven Accountant to manage our full-cycle cash flow from billing our customers (AR) to paying our vendors (AP)—in a modern manufacturing environment.
OPEN POSITION: ACCOUNTANT (AR/AP GENERALIST)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Accountant to take ownership of the company’s daily financial transactions. This role is the backbone of our finance department, ensuring we bill our eye care clients accurately, collect payments promptly, and keep our supply chain running smoothly by paying vendors on time.
Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable (AR) – Incoming Cash:
Generate and send out accurate customer invoices (net terms) based on lab production orders.
Process incoming payments (checks, ACH, wire, credit cards) and apply them to customer accounts.
Perform daily cash application and bank reconciliations.
Monitor AR aging reports and proactively follow up on past-due accounts via phone and email.
Resolve billing discrepancies and answer customer account inquiries.
Accounts Payable (AP) – Outgoing Cash:
Receive, review, and code vendor invoices for raw materials (lens blanks, coatings), equipment maintenance, and lab supplies.
Match purchase orders to receiving tickets and vendor packing slips (3-way matching).
Process weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers to suppliers.
Manage vendor relationships and reconcile vendor statements to ensure no missed payments.
Prepare 1099 forms for independent contractors at year-end.
General Accounting & Reconciliation:
Maintain the general ledger and assist with month-end closing procedures (accruals, prepaids).
Reconcile inventory accounts and fixed asset ledgers.
Assist with payroll processing and sales/use tax reporting.
Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts and monthly financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet) for management.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business strongly preferred.
Proven experience in both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable (1-3 years preferred).
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Desktop/Online, Sage) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, PivotTables).
Deep understanding of 3-way matching, aging reports, and cash application.
Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy with numbers.
Excellent communication skills for handling customer collections and vendor negotiations.
Dependable with a strong work ethic and stable work history.
Ability to sit for extended periods and lift up to 15 lbs (filing boxes).
Positive attitude and willingness to learn the optical business.
Compensation:
Pay: $24.76 - $29.82 per hour (Based on Experience and Skill Level)
WHY WORK FOR ORG?
Advanced Technology: Work in a modern facility with cutting-edge manufacturing equipment (and the financial systems that support it).
