Accounting Manager

Seattle, WA (South Seattle Area) | Onsite

Base Salary: Up to $170,000 + Equity + Performance Bonus

Following a recent funding round and significant organizational growth, the company is investing heavily in its finance and accounting infrastructure and is seeking a Financial Operations Manager to help build scalable processes and controls.

Position Overview:

The Financial Operations Manager will oversee procurement, accounts payable, cash management, financial systems administration, and key accounting functions. This individual will be responsible for establishing scalable processes, strengthening internal controls, supporting month-end close activities, and ensuring operational excellence across the finance function. The ideal candidate brings a strong accounting foundation, experience managing procurement and AP operations, and thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Process Improvement

  • Lead and improve procurement, accounts payable, cash management, and spend management processes
  • Develop and document scalable policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure financial discipline and operational efficiency

Procurement & Accounts Payable

  • Manage end-to-end procurement and AP workflows
  • Oversee purchase order approvals, invoice processing, coding, and payment execution
  • Manage vendor onboarding, maintenance, and compliance documentation
  • Monitor expenditures and ensure alignment with budgets and company policies
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for vendor-related matters

Accounting & Month-End Close

  • Prepare journal entries and support month-end close activities
  • Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances
  • Assist with accruals and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support audit preparation and maintain audit-ready documentation

Systems & Reporting

  • Support ERP implementation and ongoing financial systems administration
  • Maintain integrations between procurement and accounting systems
  • Develop reporting and dashboards related to spending, cash position, and operational metrics
  • Analyze spend trends and identify cost-saving opportunities

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Design and maintain controls across procurement, AP, expense management, and cash processes
  • Support external audits and strengthen accounting policies and procedures
  • Ensure financial data integrity and compliance with company policies

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting, financial operations, procurement, or AP experience
  • Strong accounting foundation including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close
  • Experience managing procurement and AP processes
  • Understanding of internal controls and process improvement
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Preferred:

  • 10+ years of accounting or finance experience
  • Experience with ERP implementations and systems integrations
  • Experience in startup, venture-backed, manufacturing, engineering, R&D, or technology environments
  • Exposure to spend management platforms such as Ramp, Coupa, Airbase, or similartools
  • Experience leveraging automation and AI-enabled tools to improve finance processes
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA preferred, not required
