Dishwasher / Utility Worker

The Dishwasher / Utility Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and organized dish and utility operation that supports the entire food and beverage department.

This role is essential to service readiness, resident safety, kitchen flow, sanitation, and the professional appearance of Holbrook dining operations.

Responsibilities include operating dish machine, three-compartment sink, and related equipment safely and efficiently according to sanitation standards.

Duties also involve washing, sanitizing, organizing, and properly storing dishes, glassware, silverware, cooking tools, pots, pans, smallwares, and service equipment.

The role requires maintaining cleanliness of dish room, dish storage, mop areas, trash areas, kitchen floors, drains, walls, carts, shelving, and assigned back-of-house areas.

Additionally, it includes cleaning coffee, tea, beverage, and service equipment as assigned, supporting proper chemical use, sanitizer concentration, machine temperatures, PPE usage, and safe handling of cleaning supplies.

The position also involves assisting with trash removal, recycling, floor care, spill cleanup, broken glass procedures, and safe storage of cleaning tools.

It requires helping maintain organization and rotation of kitchen items to reduce breakage, loss, and unnecessary wear and tear.

The role also includes assisting cooks, chefs, food runners, and service teams with transport, plate-up, receiving, stocking, and cleaning as needed.

Following opening, closing, daily, weekly, and deep-cleaning checklists with consistency and accountability is also part of the job.

Communicating equipment issues, chemical concerns, broken items, safety hazards, and supply needs promptly to leadership is essential.

Maintaining a positive, team-focused, resident-first attitude and supporting a clean professional operation at all times is required.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent preferred.

No prior experience required; previous dish, utility, janitorial, restaurant, hotel, senior living, or food service experience is welcomed.

Ability to follow directions, work quickly, stay organized, and maintain consistent results is necessary.

Ability to safely operate dish machine, cleaning tools, carts, and related kitchen equipment is required.

Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure in a hot, humid, fast-paced environment is needed.

Reliable attendance, punctuality, teamwork, and willingness to assist wherever needed are essential.

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing as required for safety and operational needs is required.

Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.

Competencies include building trust, collaboration, communication, delivering results, service to others/resident and guest focus, and personal accountability.

Physical demands include the ability to walk, sit, stand, reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, and safely lift up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to work in hot, cold, wet, and fast-paced kitchen environments for extended periods.

Must be able to use hands, arms, and manual dexterity to operate kitchen tools, equipment, and service items safely.

Must be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as business needs require.
