Position Summary:
Medical assistants provide physician support services that ensure that healthcare facilities run smoothly. They are responsible for administrative as well as clinical tasks, such as maintaining patient records, preparing patients and rooms for examination, assisting physicians with exams, and performing ordering tasks. This person always works as a team member and performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
Must remain compliant with HIPPA guidelines, and all applicable regulatory guidelines with regards to PHI, and daily clinical operations
Organize patient flow
Accompany patients to exam rooms, and throughout clinic areas
Accurate and through recording of demographics, chief complaints, medical history, medications with specific provider processes for examinations and documentation
Prepare and assist patients for exams, or procedures, assisting the provider during exam, procedures, or discharges
Accurate and through documentation of exams/procedures including assessments, treatment plans, medications, order entries, patient request, and aftercare education
Preparing for and assisting with in-office procedures
Bandaging, dressing changes, splinting/casting/cast removal, suture/staple removal, ordering/preparation/administration, and documentation of injections
Dispensing medications with instruction under provider direction
Cleaning exam/procedure rooms following completion, and disposing of sharps, and biohazard per protocol, in appropriate disposal containers
Restocking and cleaning exam rooms, and instruments between patients and end of day
Receive, triage, respond to, and complete patient phone calls
Effectively, accurately, and thoroughly work through, and complete medication request, injection tracking, and order placement, prior authorizations, accurate recording/documentation/follow-up of all clinic forms, transactions, adverse reactions, patient concerns/request, and all required documentation of job role/function. Also acting as a lesion between patients/providers/pharmacist, and Southwest Orthopaedic staff
Maintain clinical skills (CPR, clinic procedures) for emergent situations including knowledge of blood borne pathogens, universal precautions, aseptic/sterile technique, and continuing educational training.
Previous Medical Assistant experience required, preferably in an orthopedic medical office.
All other duties as assigned by the MA Supervisor, or Director of Operations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
