POSITION SUMMARY
The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day accounting operations for Affiliate Management Services' property portfolio while ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and consistent accounting practices across the organization. Reporting to the Director of Property Management, this position partners closely with Area Managers, Property Managers, Asset Management, and Executive Leadership to support operational success through timely financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, and process improvement.
The Accounting Manager serves as a trusted business partner by providing financial guidance, maintaining accounting integrity, improving efficiencies, and helping operational teams understand the financial performance of their communities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience, with property management, real estate, or multifamily accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Experience preparing financial statements, managing month-end closing processes, reconciling accounts, and supporting annual budgets and financial reporting.
- Working knowledge of affordable housing, including LIHTC, HOME, HUD, or other housing programs, is preferred.
- Experience with RealPage Financial Suite or comparable property management and accounting software preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing deadlines, exercise sound judgment, and build collaborative relationships while maintaining a high level of accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong knowledge of property accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and internal controls, with the ability to analyze financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and property management/accounting software, with the ability to leverage technology to improve efficiency, reporting, and workflow processes.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships, translate financial information into meaningful guidance, and effectively support site teams and executive leadership.
- Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, integrity, and discretion while handling confidential financial information, fostering accountability, and delivering exceptional internal customer service.
Pay: $90,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
