What We Offer

Certified Medical Assistant (Remote)

Location: Remote (NC residence highly preferred)

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8:00am - 5:00pm

Overview

Coordinate and assist the provider to ensure safe quality/cost effective service and care for the people within the practice population. The Certified Medical Assistant - Virtual will function in a virtual care center setting and is part of a remote care team which collaborates with physicians, mid-level providers, staff, and other health care professionals to provide the best care across the health care continuum. This role serves as an integral member of the health care team who works to ensure safety, best practice and high-quality standards of care are maintained across the continuum.

What We're Looking For

  • Education: Must be a graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program that includes an externship in a clinical setting; Medical Assistant curriculum must include pharmacology and medication. A fully online medical assistant program for the entire curriculum is not approved. Certification/registration accepted: CMA with the American Associate of Medical Assistants (AAMA), CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA), RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) and RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA).
  • Experience: 1 + years - Clinical hands-on experience rooming patients in a clinical setting, including obtaining vital signs, documenting medical history, reconciling medications, and preparing patients for provider evaluation. 1 + years prior experience working in a virtual or telehealth environment, including virtual patient intake and real-time EMR documentation
  • Licensure/Certification: Current certification as CMA, RMA, or CCMA, required.
  • Additional Skills (required):
  • Appropriate customer service, effective and appropriate customer relations, verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and computer literacy. Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing. Has the ability to interpret information and identify each patient’s requirement for care relative to his/her age specific need. Has the knowledge and skill necessary to modify care according to patient(s) age.
  • Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Epic EMR, including managing in-basket messages, processing prior authorizations, navigating virtual visit workflows within patient encounters, scheduling appointments, and utilizing scheduling tickets.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, including use for meetings, chat communication, voice calls, and accessing shared documents within Teams channels.
  • Proficiency in Zoom, including the ability to troubleshoot connectivity and technical issues to support seamless virtual patient visits.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Outlook, including email organization, appointment management, sending calendar invitations, and navigating complex schedules.
  • Basic experience using Doximity Dialer to facilitate video visits when alternative platforms (e.g., Zoom) are unavailable.
  • Proficiency in the CoverMyMeds platform, including processing prior authorizations and uploading/saving patient documentation.
  • Strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards; must maintain a private, secure, and dedicated workspace to support compliance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with patients.
