Job Overview:
Conduct in-process quality inspections of vans, identify vehicle
defects, and enter inspection results into the appropriate computer systems.
Communicate effectively with production personnel to create awareness of
quality issues that leads to effective resolution.
Responsibilities:
- Be able to read
and comprehend checklist inspection points and locate the targeted area for
inspection.
- Must have basic
computer, writing and language skills; ability to enter data into a computer
unassisted
- Be able to
identify, evaluate and determine the severity of a defect based on the Van
Benchmark Catalog NQ rating scale
- Ability to
conduct needed inspections in the established takt time
- Input defects
into QSYS and on FBK
- Properly clear
defects in QSYS and on the FBK
- Be able to
inspect FBKs for conformance to stamping requirements
- Identify the
correct process owner for a defect and communicate with them
- Verify
correction of defects if/when corrected in-station
- Determine next
process step for vehicles with defects (light tunnel/EOL only)
Qualifications
- 2 - 3 years manufacturing process experience
- Inspection experience preferred
- Significant MBV product knowledge
- Knowledge in the application of quality inspection methods
- Basic computer skills; use of MS Office required
- Ability to work in teams
- People and persuasion skills
- Assertiveness in difficult situations
- Ability to work with minimal supervision

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC (“MBV Charleston”) is a Ladson, South Carolina–based production entity that manufactures Sprinter vans for the U.S. and Canadian markets.
The Sprinter plant officially opened in 2018 and serves as a key part of the Mercedes-Benz Vans global production network. MBV Charleston was selected as the first plant in this network to produce the all-new eSprinter, beginning in 2024. The company also continues to invest in the local community through donations to non-profits and schools, as well as active support of STEM education initiatives and volunteer programs.
Since 2006, Sprinter and Metris vans have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations across the United States.
