Position Overview
Position: Pre- Approval Specialist (PAL Specialist). This is the first position in our training program. Must have passed your NMLS Safe Exam prior to starting. We will reimburse up to $500 to help with NMLS fees. Location: Must be onsite in Dallas, TX; may need to work PST hours from 8 am to 5 pm during the first 3 months of training.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist customers and licensed Purchase Loan Officers with gathering loan information and documentation to provide an underwritten pre-approval.
- Engage in conversation and establish rapport with customers via email and telephone.
- Educate both customers and Purchase Loan Officers about the next steps for a customer's pre-approval.
- Follow up with Purchase Loan Officers and customers regarding conditional items needed in addition to the loan application.
- Set realistic expectations for both Purchase Loan Officers and customers to maximize satisfaction.
- Input data into the computer system pertaining to the mortgage loan information gathered.
- Disposition customer files appropriately based on the customers’ interest and ability to proceed with pre-approval.
- Follow up and communicate with previously pre-approved customers (PAL Incubation) to determine if further assistance is needed.
- Assist customers with completing the eConsent and eSign process.
- Help customers review their credit report to determine if they can proceed with loan qualification or require referral to a credit repair institution.
Required Qualifications
- Previous or current call center, inside customer service, or sales experience.
- Proficiency in communicating with customers over the phone and via email.
- Knowledge of the mortgage loan refinance or home buying process.
- Proven experience being outgoing, energetic, hardworking, and willing to learn.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Must have passed the NMLS exam.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of office or inside customer service/call center experience.
- 1+ years of experience in the mortgage or real estate industry.
- 2+ years in customer service and/or sales experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.

Physical Demands
Must be able to lift up to ten pounds. The position requires the ability to work in an office setting, including prolonged periods of sitting or standing, occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, twisting, and handling light to moderate weights. Fine coordination and repetitive hand movements are required, as is the ability to communicate verbally. Vision and hearing should be within the normal range, with or without correction.
