Job Title: Building Controls Installation Electrician
Reports To: Electrical Team Lead Job
Summary: The Controls Electrician works as part of a skilled team responsible for the installation of building control systems. Under the direct supervision of an Electrical Team Lead, this role is designed to provide hands-on training and career development with controls installation. This position is responsible for performing complete electrical controls installation from rough-in through project completion. This candidate will gain knowledge in electrical theory, state and local electrical codes, workplace safety, blueprint reading, device layout, and the installation of cable and raceways.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Learn, develop and demonstrate a strong understanding of electrical construction materials and control equipment used in building control system installations.
- Assist in installing control systems using mechanical and electrical plans, hardware layout drawings, and company installation standards.
- Support coordination with other trade subcontractors to review project technical requirements.
- Gain proficiency in installing cable, wire, raceways, control devices, actuators, and controllers—critical components of building control systems.
- Work closely with other electricians, commissioning technicians, and subcontractors to coordinate installation requirements.
- Communicate effectively with the Electrical Team Lead regarding daily needs.
- Promote and adhere to company safety practices on all job sites.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional classes or a two-year technical degree in Mechanical or Electrical fields and/or prior experience with building control systems preferred.
- Equivalent technical experience (military, vocational training, or on-the-job training) will be considered.
- Team-oriented with strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of construction industry practices preferred.
- Detail-oriented, quick learner with a professional demeanor and strong work ethic.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Essential Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry ladders, equipment, and materials up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Capable of standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, kneeling, and stooping for extended periods on construction sites.
- Comfortable working from aerial lifts and ladders.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record in accordance with company policy.
- Physically able to safely perform all tasks required by the trade.
- Commitment to actively participating in the company-wide Health and Safety program
Pay: $18.00 - $38.00 per hour
