The Impact You’ll Make

Recursion is at a strategic inflection point. With a growing clinical pipeline, expanding global partnerships, and one of the most powerful AI-native end-to-end drug discovery platforms, we are seeking a strategist who can translate intelligence into decisive action. At Recursion, our mission is to industrialize and transform the development of medicines by integrating data-driven insights and advanced analytics throughout the entire development lifecycle.

As an Executive Director in Corporate Strategy Intelligence, you will play a pivotal role in defining Recursion’s competitive and commercial position and turn that understanding into a strategy that shapes pipeline prioritization, partnership decisions, and long-range growth. You will leverage competitive commercial insights to be a principal architect of Recursion’s strategic choices, sharpening our BD focus and maximizing the potential for both scientific and commercial impact. Ideal candidates are equally comfortable building rigorous commercial models as they are presenting bold strategic recommendations to leadership, all with the goal of driving enterprise decision-making as we advance transformative medicines for patients.

In this role, you will:

Lead commercial assessment, strategic fit analyses, and the design of competitive moats for pipeline assets from early validation through late-stage development. Integrate epidemiology, patient segmentation, competitive positioning, pricing market access dynamics, and revenue forecasts to inform go/no-go, prioritization, and partnering decisions.

Own the end-to-end competitive intelligence function for specific Recursion initiatives and BD opportunities: leverage agentic approaches, as well as advanced analytics modeling to define the strategic framework, build the intelligence infrastructure, and deliver timely, decision-grade insights on competitors, therapeutic area dynamics, evolving platform technologies, and the broader drug discovery ecosystem.

Grow and refine a real-time intelligence system that synthesizes complex signals from clinical data, regulatory filings, investor disclosures, scientific publications, partner pipelines, and industry events into a coherent, real-time-updated strategic picture. Strive to preempt market disruptions and identify white space opportunities.

Collaborate with functional line leaders and the C-suite to inform corporate strategy development and long-range planning, translating competitive and commercial intelligence into actionable strategic choices and high impact narratives on portfolio prioritization, platform positioning, partnership strategy, and growth vectors.

Propagate the Recursion mindset of radically changing lives by constantly seeking transformative improvements in how we advance innovative concepts for clinical benefit, all while ensuring Recursion’s strategy is grounded in competitive reality and built to move with urgency.

The Team You’ll Join

As Executive Director, Corporate Strategy Intelligence, you will work across the Recursion Portfolio, partnering with colleagues in Discovery, Platform, External Partnerships, ClinTech and Clinical Development. The Portfolio Team is an empowered, execution-minded group of cross-functional professionals responsible for translating and industrializing Recursion’s innovative science to patients. We value rigorous analytical thinking, intellectual honesty, a bilingual tech/science mindset and a shared mission to revolutionize how drugs are discovered. We break down traditional silos across the organization, leveraging AI-powered platforms to connect the dots between the discovery portfolio, clinical development, and commercial reality.

The Experience You’ll Need

Advanced degree in a scientific, quantitative, business, or related field required; MBA, PhD, MD, or equivalent strongly preferred

10+ years of experience in competitive intelligence, pipeline differentiation strategy, forecasting and demand estimation, quantitative and qualitative market research, corporate strategy business development in the pharma, biotech and/or life sciences consulting sector
