We are seeking a dependable, motivated, and patient-focused Medical Assistant/Receptionist to join our growing primary care practice. This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys both administrative and clinical responsibilities and is looking to grow into an Administrative Supervisor role over time.

The ideal candidate is organized, accountable, adaptable, and eager to learn. You will begin by supporting the daily operations of the front office while providing hands-on medical assisting. As you gain experience and demonstrate leadership, you will have the opportunity to take on increasing administrative responsibilities, eventually overseeing front office workflows and ensuring administrative tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.

ResponsibilitiesFront Office & Administrative Duties

  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls professionally and courteously.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
  • Perform patient check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and demographic information.
  • Process referrals and obtain prior authorizations.
  • Maintain and update Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Handle medical records requests while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
  • Scan, upload, and organize patient documentation.
  • Assist with daily administrative workflows and office operations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, specialists, pharmacies, and insurance companies.

Medical Assistant Duties

  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints.
  • Perform EKGs.
  • Administer injections or prepare injections as directed by the provider.
  • Perform ear lavages.
  • Assist with minor office procedures.
  • Prepare and stock examination rooms.
  • Maintain infection control and safety standards.
  • Accurately document patient encounters within the EHR.
  • Provide patient education and assist with follow-up care instructions.

Growth & Leadership Opportunities

As experience and competency develop, this position will transition into an Administrative Supervisor role with responsibilities including:

  • Helping oversee daily front office operations.
  • Ensuring administrative responsibilities are completed accurately and on time.
  • Assisting with workflow improvements and office organization.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in a primary care or family medicine practice.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, patient care, and clinical procedures.
  • Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Experience with referrals, prior authorizations, insurance verification, and medical records.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
  • Comfortable adapting to changing priorities in both fast-paced and slower-paced environments.
