Job Title: Specimen Collector Phlebotomist
Location: Colorado Springs, CO (includes Colorado Springs, Pueblo, & Canon City)
Position Type: Full Time
Compensation: $21.00 per hour (Full‑time hourly)
Schedule: Variable shift times between 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday‑Thursday
Core Requirements
- Active national certification in phlebotomy (e.g., NHA, ASCP, NCPT)
- At least 6 months of professional experience performing blood draws in a healthcare setting
- Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and successful motor‑vehicle‑record check
- Flexibility to navigate between multiple clinics
Responsibilities
- Provide a frictionless patient experience through accurate collection of urine, oral, and blood specimens per policy
- Accurately enter orders and patient data and ensure data entry compliance
- Facilitate collection, processing, and shipping of laboratory specimens
- Maintain neat, clean client/work areas and comply with hygiene and dress-code standards
- Observe specimen‑collection procedures and troubleshoot missing information during collection
- Follow all healthcare regulations and comply with company policies on billing and payment collection
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and compassion when interacting with patients and staff
- Maintain 100% compliance workflow and continuously support quality improvement efforts
Qualifications
- In‑depth knowledge of specimen‑collection techniques and procedures (urine, oral fluid, blood)
- Advanced understanding of bio‑hazard prevention and infection control measures
- Knowledge of medical terminology, specimen‑collection protocols, and PPE best practices
- Knowledge of Substance Use Disorder and Pain Management care settings
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn new technology
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with patients and internal stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail, adherence to checklists, and accurate record keeping
- Ability to communicate with a diverse patient population and handle emotional/behavioral health needs
- Compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and state/federal regulations related to specimen collection
Minimum Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance or alternate means of travel
- Phlebotomy certification from an accredited program
- In the past 6 months, active phlebotomy role with a minimum of 6 months experience
- Active registration in any states that require it to perform phlebotomy
