Step into an impactful role supporting students as a dedicated Occupational Therapist (OT) or a highly experienced Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). This full-time, on-site contract opportunity awaits you in the Houston areas southwest side, offering the chance to make a real difference across a vibrant school community from August 11, 2026, to May 26, 2027.
Youll manage a caseload of primarily consult-based servicesaround 70 students total, with 30-40 receiving direct intervention. The age range spans early childhood through transition-age (321 years), ensuring a rewarding variety in your day-to-day. Your support will be vital at ARDs, conducting evaluations, collaborating with educators, and ensuring students thrive via individualized services.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Active Texas OT license (required)
- For COTA applicants: extensive school-based or pediatric experience
- Experience in school settings or pediatric therapy preferred
- Strong evaluative, consultative, and documentation skills
- Skilled in or willing to learn SHARES and Onward software
- Flexibility to work across 67 schools within an assigned area, strategically matched by ZIP code
- Comfortable managing an independent caseloadno COTAs available for support
- District does not consider former employees
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive student evaluations and participate in ARDs
- Deliver rotating direct and consult-based services
- Maintain accurate IEP documentation using Excel, SHARES, and Onward software
- Foster relationships with staff and families across multiple campuses
- Adhere to the scheduled hours (typically 8:00 AM4:00 PM, with some variation)
- Complete all required fingerprinting and credentialing as per district guidelines
