MEDSTAR HEALTH seeks a compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant to support our patient-first, mission-driven care in the Healthcare & Medical Services department. Working under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist, you will implement treatment plans, guide therapeutic exercises, and assist with mobility training for patients recovering from injury, surgery, or illness. You’ll document progress, educate patients and families, and collaborate with an interprofessional team. Implement physical therapy treatment plans under supervision of a licensed PT
Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, gait training, and mobility activities
Monitor and document patient status, treatment responses, and progress in EMR
Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safe mobility
Maintain treatment areas and equipment in a clean, safe, and organized manner
Communicate effectively with PTs, nurses, and other clinicians to coordinate care
Adhere to all regulatory, safety, and infection control standards
Support a patient-first, compassionate care environment aligned with MedStar’s mission
Therapeutic exercise implementation
Gait and balance training
Manual therapy techniques (within PTA scope)
Patient transfer and mobility assistance
Use of rehabilitation equipment and modalities
Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation
Vital signs monitoring
Patient and family education
