About the Role

Brown & Brown is seeking a Commercial Lines Senior Account Manager to join our growing commercial lines team in Portland, Oregon. In this role, you’ll manage a portfolio of mid-to-large market commercial insurance accounts, serving as the primary service contact for clients and working closely with Producers to deliver best-in-class coverage and retention. This is a high-impact position for an experienced commercial lines professional who takes ownership of their book and builds lasting client relationships.

How You Will Contribute

  • Manage and retain an assigned book of commercial lines business with approximately $1M+ in annual revenue, overseeing renewals, endorsements, policy changes, and client service
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing expert guidance on commercial coverages including General Liability, Commercial Property, Workers’ Compensation, Commercial Auto, and Umbrella
  • Market new and renewal business to carriers, negotiate terms and pricing, and prepare comprehensive proposals for client presentation
  • Conduct coverage reviews and risk assessments, recommending appropriate coverage enhancements and cross-selling additional lines of protection
  • Mentor and support junior account managers and account coordinators, providing technical guidance and contributing to team development
  • Maintain high client retention through proactive communication, stewardship reporting, and superior service delivery
  • Coordinate with Producers on account strategy, growth opportunities, and complex account placements
  • Ensure compliance with internal workflows, agency management system documentation, and carrier binding authority guidelines
  • Stay current on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes impacting commercial insurance in Oregon and Washington

Skills & Experience to Be Successful

  • 7+ years of commercial lines insurance experience in a brokerage or agency environment, with demonstrated account management expertise
  • Active Oregon and Washington Property & Casualty license (required)
  • Deep technical knowledge of mid-to-large market commercial coverages, carrier underwriting guidelines, and risk assessment
  • Professional designations such as CPCU, CIC, or CRM strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with agency management systems (AMS360, Applied Epic, or similar) and Microsoft Office 365
  • Proven track record of high client retention and book growth through cross-selling and coverage enhancement
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to translate complex coverage concepts into clear, client-friendly language
