The Senior Staff Accountant plays a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial information to clients and internal stakeholders. This position involves advanced accounting responsibilities, client interaction, and oversight of complex projects, primarily within the construction industry.

The Senior Staff Accountant is a trusted financial steward who ensures accuracy, transparency, and compliance in all accounting processes. This role goes beyond technical expertise—it requires a commitment to integrity, collaboration, and clear communication. Requirements -

  • Manage key client relationships:   Provide senior-level accounting and/or controller level support tailored to each client's business requirements. Responsibilities encompass collaborating with internal XLS personnel, ensuring precise financial reporting, establishing effective controls, communicating transparently, and delivering strategic insights to enhance profitability and foster growth.
  • Financial tie down: Reconciling sub-ledger account balances to the general ledger. Adjusting where needed for all balance sheet accounts and designated profit and loss accounts. Review overall books and records for reasonableness and inquire as needed to ensure accurate financial reports and processes that will be used by our firm, client, and sometimes a partner CPA firm.
  • Preparation of work in progress and related schedules: Preparation of reports that are cross- tied to updated client estimates, historical job cost data, and known future events. Allocate indirect costs as applicable and fully reconcile to the general ledger and job ledgers.
  • Compilation level financial statement preparation: Preparation of GAAP compliant or management level financial reports, budgets, and other reports as requested monthly, quarterly, or annually depending on client needs.
  • Preparation of various compliance documents: Preparation of sales tax returns, payroll tax returns, 1099 filings, insurance audit submissions, and other special projects.
  • Fringe benefit reporting: Annual fringe benefit calculation and reporting related to personal use of company vehicle and S corporation officer health insurance. Utilize various payroll mechanisms and processes based upon client systems.
  • Other: Related projects as defined by management.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
