About the position
Provides support for O, I and D-level tasks in support of Presidential\nHelicopter platforms in accordance with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program\n(NAMP), applicable technical data, and federal contract requirements.\n\nAircraft painter supporting VH-92A, VH-3D, VH-60N, test aircraft and other\naircraft periodically hosted by PMA-274.\n\nDescription: Performs surface preparation, treatment and painting of components,\nsmall aircraft surface areas, aircraft panels, support equipment, or other items\nas required. Demonstrated ability to precisely apply paint, lacquer, epoxy,\nresin, or other material using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other devices.\nMasks and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted. Working knowledge of\nsurface preparation and painting techniques. Must be knowledgeable of military\npublications, microfilm, and diagrams. Ability to precisely apply vinyl graphics\nto multiple surfaces, including aircraft.
Responsibilities
- Performing all tasks associated with aircraft and component surface preparation, coating, and finishing
- Interpret technical manuals, drawings, and directives
- Document maintenance actions per NAMP requirements
- Conduct chemical stripping of paints and primers; performing abrasive blasting on ferrous and non‑ferrous materials; preparing surfaces through sanding, grinding, mechanical abrasion, and acid etching; and applying primers, topcoats, epoxy coatings, lacquer, resin
- Document maintenance actions in aircraft logs and approved maintenance systems
- Ensure compliance with Tool Control, FOD, safety, and quality programs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a paint technician to include painting, maintenance, and finish work
- Must be able to work, day, swing or mid shift as required
Nice-to-haves
- 7+ years aviation experience preferred
- 3+ years VH-92A, VH-3D, VH-60N or similar aircraft experience preferred
