Role Description The Payroll Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Stone Mountain, GA. This position is responsible for end-to-end payroll processing, including collecting and verifying employee data, calculating wages, and ensuring timely and accurate payroll runs. The Payroll Specialist will manage payroll tax reporting, handle garnishments, and coordinate with payroll service providers to resolve issues and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Day-to-day tasks include responding to employee payroll inquiries, maintaining payroll records, reconciling payroll reports, and supporting audits and month-end processes. The role works closely with HR and finance teams to ensure data integrity, process improvements, and a consistent, high-quality payroll experience for all employees.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in payroll administration and payroll processing, with the ability to manage regular and off-cycle payrolls accurately and on time.
- Understanding of garnishments and related compliance requirements, including proper calculation, documentation, and remittance.
- Knowledge of payroll services platforms and tools, with experience coordinating with third-party providers to troubleshoot and improve processes.
- Strong grasp of payroll taxes and regulatory requirements, including federal, state, and local tax withholding, reporting, and filings.
- Proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, Workday or similar), and strong Microsoft Excel skills for reporting and reconciliations.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain payroll information clearly and support employees and internal stakeholders.
- Prior experience in a multi-state payroll environment and familiarity with wage and hour laws is preferred.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, HR, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; CPP or similar payroll certification is a plus.
