We are seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Loan Officer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a results-driven lending professional who is passionate about helping members achieve their financial goals through personalized lending solutions and outstanding service. The Senior Loan Officer will play a key role in originating, processing, underwriting, and managing consumer loan products while supporting branch growth and member satisfaction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Consumer Lending & Member Service
- Interview loan applicants and evaluate financial information to determine lending eligibility.
- Originate, process, underwrite, and close consumer loans in accordance with credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
- Educate members on loan products, rates, terms, and available financial solutions.
- Build strong relationships with members by providing exceptional service and financial guidance.
- Resolve member lending inquiries and provide timely follow-up throughout the loan process.
- Ensure all loan documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with internal procedures and regulations.
- Review credit reports, income verification, collateral documentation, and supporting financial records.
- Approve, deny, or recommend loans within assigned lending authority.
Sales & Relationship Development
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell credit union products and services that meet member needs.
- Support branch growth initiatives by promoting loan products and increasing member engagement.
- Maintain knowledge of current lending programs, rates, and market trends.
- Participate in community outreach and member engagement activities as needed.
Compliance & Operational Support
- Ensure compliance with federal and state lending regulations, credit union policies, and audit requirements.
- Maintain accurate loan records and documentation within lending systems.
- Assist with audits, reporting, and quality control reviews related to lending operations.
- Collaborate with branch staff and internal departments to ensure efficient loan processing and member satisfaction.
Leadership & Team Collaboration
- Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for lending staff and branch employees.
- Support training and mentoring efforts for junior loan officers and team members.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and service-driven work environment.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- 2-4 years of experience in consumer lending, banking, or credit union operations.
- Proven experience with loan origination, underwriting, processing, and approvals.
- Strong understanding of consumer lending regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, sales, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience reviewing credit reports, debt ratios, and income documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with lending systems, digital banking platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Prior credit union experience preferred.
WORK SCHEDULE
- Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Must be available to work extended hours as needed
- Must be available to work 1–2 Saturdays per month
