CLC WORKS is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals who align with our values and are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of others. As an ESOL Instructor in our LEARN NOW & WORK program, you will play a key role in empowering adult learners by improving their English proficiency and preparing them for success in the workforce.
Compensation: $1,728 for a regular 12-week term, with pay distributed on a regular schedule throughout the term.
Available Classes:
- Hilltop: Tuesday & Thursday 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Karl Road: Tuesday & Thursday 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Northside: Monday & Wednesday 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Worthington: Monday & Wednesday 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Schedule: Classes meet two times per week on either M/W or T/R for two hours during the designated times.
Times: Morning (9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m., 10-12 p.m.) or Evening (5:30-7:30 p.m., 6-8 p.m.)
Location: In person throughout Columbus
Employment Type: Part-Time, Term-Based (with potential for renewal)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction:
Teach English language skills with a focus on American culture, civics, and work-readiness.
Design and implement lesson plans based on LEARN NOW & WORK’s proven approach.
Maintain consistent communication with students during the class cycle through WhatsApp ensuring engagement and support.
Assign and manage homework via WhatsApp and Google Classroom, reinforcing classroom learning and work-readiness skills.
Student Assessment & Support:
Assist with student progress testing as needed.
Communicate with students about their progress and re-enrollment processes.
Develop and revise Individual Learning Plans (ILP) for each student.
Maintain electronic portfolios for each student, updating them with relevant materials at regular intervals.
Administrative Duties:
Keep accurate records of student attendance and other relevant information using WhatsApp and the program’s data management system.
Collaborate with program coordinators to ensure that both program and individual class goals are met.
Facilitate end-of-term class evaluations and use feedback to improve future classes.
Professional Development:
Complete required professional development courses and any additional training as assigned.
Participate in regular program meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred. TESOL experience and/or certification or equivalent is preferred.
Experience: Prefer candidates with multicultural environment teaching experience, preferably with adult learners.
Skills:
- Proficient English Communication: Strong command of written and spoken English to effectively engage with students and colleagues.
- Tech-Savvy: Experience using educational technology and communication platforms (e.g., WhatsApp, Google Classroom) to enhance teaching and facilitate learning.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational abilities with strong attention to detail to manage classroom activities and resources effectively.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment to achieve educational goals.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with students and foster a positive classroom atmosphere.
- Understanding of Adult Learning: Knowledge of adult education principles and alternative teaching methods suitable for at-risk teens and multicultural students.
- Adaptability: Ability to teach students of diverse abilities and backgrounds, effectively addressing barriers to success in a multi-level classroom.
- Positive Learning Environment: Capable of creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and aligns with the maturity and interests of students.
Ability to pass a criminal background check. Valid driver license and/or reliable transportation is required. Professional business attire and appearance required. This position requires frequent travel to class locations.
